Boudoir Photos as a Valentine's Gift
Almost every woman who books this tells us the same thing afterwards, and it is never what she expected to say. She thought she was making a gift. Then she saw the images and realised the gift had quietly turned out to be for her.
Are boudoir photos a good Valentine's gift? They're one of the few gifts that still exist in a decade. The practical catch is timing: hand-made albums and wall art must be ordered by January 5 to arrive before February 14, which makes Friday, December 18 the only album-safe session date this season. Every later date is digital delivery.
What he actually receives
This is the part nobody explains, and it's the part that decides whether the gift lands.
A mini session includes five high-resolution retouched images that are yours to keep, print or share. Most women give those as a small printed set or a single framed piece. If you want something with more weight to it, you choose from albums, wall art, folio boxes and other artwork at your reveal, which happens the same day you shoot. Pricing sits on our investment page.
What we'd steer you away from is handing over a USB stick. The images deserve to exist as an object — something he can hold, and something you'll find yourself looking at years later.
The deadline is January 5, not February 14
Albums, wall art and folio boxes are hand-made, and they take several weeks to build and ship. January 5 is the final order date for anything physical to arrive before Valentine's Day.
Because your reveal happens the same day as your session, your session date is effectively your order date. That makes Friday, December 18 the only album-safe session of the season.
Every other date — January 8, 15, 22, 29 and February 5 — is digital delivery. Your five retouched images arrive well before the 14th, so the gift still works; it just isn't a printed object on the day. If you fall for the images afterwards and want an album, it arrives in March, and by then it tends to be for you anyway.
If you've left it too late
A gift certificate is the honest answer, and often the better one. She picks her own date, her own set and her own comfort level, which matters far more than the surprise does.
It also solves the problem nobody says out loud: a boudoir session booked for someone without asking her can land badly. Given the choice, most women would rather be handed the decision than the appointment.
What it costs
A Valentine's mini is $349, which covers the thirty-minute session, one set, and five retouched images. A full session is $399 and includes professional hair and makeup, several sets and a gallery of 200–400 images. Couples sessions are $449.
Artwork is chosen afterwards rather than prepaid. Ten digital images start at $800 and collections begin at $1,895. Our cost guide explains why Utah studios price so differently from one another, which is worth reading before you compare tabs.
The part women worry about
Privacy. Nothing is ever shared without your written permission, and a great many of our clients keep their galleries entirely private. That changes nothing about the session or the images — only about who else ever sees them.
The second worry is more common and less spoken: that you should wait until you look different. We've photographed more than 1,500 women and can tell you plainly that the ones who waited all say the same thing afterwards, which is that they wish they hadn't.
Blushed Boudoir is Utah's largest private all-female luxury boudoir studio — 4,500 square feet and 30+ signature sets at 629 S State Street in downtown Salt Lake City. We've photographed more than 1,500 women and bring nearly 40 years of combined experience. We serve Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden, Park City and St. George, plus clients travelling in from Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada and Arizona.
