Some women arrive in lace. Others arrive in an oversized sweater and never take it off. Both leave with photographs they can’t stop looking at. You decide where your line is, before we start — and we never push past it.
“Can I do this and still feel like myself?”
It’s the question we hear most often, and almost always in a whisper. Women want the experience — the being-seen part, the confidence part, the photographs — but not the version of it they’ve seen online.
The answer is yes, and it isn’t a compromise. A modest session isn’t a watered-down boudoir session. It’s the same lighting, the same guided posing, the same team, the same 200–400 image gallery. The only thing that changes is how much skin is in the frame — and that’s a decision you make, not one we make for you.
Three ways to shoot it. All of them yours.
We talk this through before your session, and you can move down the scale at any point during the day. Nobody ever moves you up.
Soft
Fully covered, start to finish. Sweaters, sheets, robes, button-downs, slip dresses. The focus is expression, light and shape — not skin.
This is where most modest sessions live, and the images are every bit as striking as anything else we shoot.
Classic
A little more skin, still nothing revealing. Bodysuits, structured lingerie with a robe over it, off-the-shoulder pieces, bare legs or shoulders.
Plenty of women start at Soft and drift here on their own by the third look. Plenty don’t. Both are completely normal.
Bold
Traditional boudoir, and everything up to implied. Listed here so you can see exactly where the scale ends — not because anyone expects you to get there.
If this is never on your list, say so when you book and it simply won’t come up again.
Suggested, never shown.
Implied boudoir uses angle, shadow, fabric and hands to suggest more than the frame contains. A sheet held at the right height. A shoulder turned into the light. A shot from behind.
The result reads as intimate and cinematic while showing no more than a summer dress would. It’s the most technically skilled work we do, and it’s where the studio’s lighting really earns its keep.

Starting Soft is the least intimidating way in. Some women come back the next year and shoot something bolder. Some never do, and love their first gallery just as much.

And every piece of it is either already in your closet or already in ours. Our studio wardrobe runs XS–5X, so nothing has to be bought, ordered or squeezed into.
Oversized Knits
A chunky sweater falling off one shoulder is one of the most photographed looks in the studio. Cosy, warm, and quietly sensual without trying.
His Button-Down
Borrowed, too big, sleeves rolled. It photographs beautifully and it means something to the person you might be giving these to.
White Sheets
The most versatile thing in the building. Wrapped, draped, held — it covers completely and reads as timeless rather than shy.
Slip Dresses & Silk Robes
Elegant, flowing, and covering. Movement does the work; the fabric does the rest.
Bodysuits
For a Classic-level session. Full coverage through the body with the shape of lingerie — a favourite for women who want a little more without much more.
Knee Socks & Layers
Thigh-highs, cardigans, denim, a blazer over a slip. Layers give you something to take off — or keep on — entirely at your pace.
Soft light does most of the work.

No. And rather than just say that, here’s exactly how the day is structured so it can’t happen.
Your line is set before the camera comes out
We agree your comfort level during planning, in writing, before your session date. It’s in your file and everyone on the team sees it.
Nobody suggests going further
Not as a joke, not as encouragement, not once you’re warmed up. If you want to change your own mind mid-session, you tell us — it never comes from our side.
You can move down at any point
Decided halfway through that even Soft feels like a lot? We’ll swap the plan on the spot and nobody will make it awkward.
The room is only women
Your photographer, your hair and makeup artist, your client care — all female. The studio is private and never shared, so no one else is in the building.
You see everything before anyone else
Your gallery is revealed to you the same day. Nothing is edited, printed or shown to anybody until you’ve chosen it.
Nothing is ever posted without permission
Written permission, specifically, image by image. Many women keep their galleries entirely private, and that is completely normal here.
These can stay entirely yours.
If nobody in your life ever needs to know you did this, nobody ever will. That isn’t a special request — it’s the default.
Your images are never posted to our website, our social accounts, or submitted anywhere without your explicit written permission. You can choose to share none of them, some of them, or all of them, and you can change your mind later in either direction.
Exactly the same as any other session.

Modest boudoir questions.
Can I stay fully covered the entire session?
Yes, and plenty of women do. A fully covered session is a complete session — same lighting, same guided posing, same 200–400 image gallery. Sweaters, sheets, robes and button-downs photograph beautifully.
What’s the difference between modest and implied?
Modest means you stay covered by clothing or fabric throughout. Implied means the image suggests more than it shows — a sheet held at the right height, a shot from behind, a shoulder turned into the light. You can choose either, or neither.
Will you pressure me to take things off?
No. Your comfort level is agreed in writing before your session, it’s in your file, and the whole team sees it. Nobody suggests going further — not as encouragement and not as a joke. You can move down the scale at any point; it never goes the other way from our side.
Do I need to explain why I want a modest session?
Never. We don’t ask about your reasons, your faith, or your marriage. “I want to stay covered” is all we need, and it’s the only thing we’ll write down.
Will the photos still look like boudoir?
Yes. What makes an image feel like boudoir is light, expression, intimacy and how you carry yourself — not how much skin is showing. Some of the most striking images in our galleries are of women in sweaters.
What should I wear?
An oversized knit, a partner’s button-down, a slip dress, a silk robe, a bodysuit, or nothing but a white sheet. Our studio closet runs XS–5X and carries all of it, so nothing has to be bought or ordered.
Who will be in the room?
Only your Blushed team, and we’re 100% all-female. The studio is private and never shared — no other photographer and no other client is in the building during your session.
Will my images be shared anywhere?
Only with your explicit written permission, image by image. Many women keep their galleries completely private, and that’s the default, not a special request.
Is a modest session cheaper?
No, and it isn’t less. Same session fee of $399, same studio time, same team, same gallery. Images are chosen afterward — ten digital images from $800, artwork collections from $1,895.
Can I do a modest session as a wedding gift?
It’s one of the most common reasons women book one. Sheets, veils and a partner’s shirt make for an intimate gift that isn’t explicit. See bridal boudoir for timing.
How long is a session?
Plan on about 3–4 hours from arrival to your image reveal — professional hair and makeup, wardrobe planning, and a fully guided shoot with up to three different looks.
Is there a smaller way to try this first?
Yes. Our $349 mini session runs 30 minutes with one set and one look, and five finished images are included — so you know your total before you book.
Can I change my mind during the session?
Always, in either direction. If you want to add a look you hadn’t planned, say so. If you want to stop somewhere, we stop and move on without a word about it.
