Custom photography website design

A site built page by page by a photographer who books sessions off her own, not a designer who has never sat through a consult call. $3,500, live in about six weeks.

Already paid for a beautiful site that booked nobody? That's the normal outcome. Pretty is not the job. The job is answering a nervous woman's fears before she closes the tab.

Two or three builds run at a time, so applying comes before a date. Questions? Text 801-797-3156.

The difference

Built by someone who sells sessions, not just sites

A web designer will give you a gorgeous grid of your best images and a contact form. It will photograph beautifully in your portfolio and it will not book anyone.

The woman landing on your site is nervous. She thinks she isn't photogenic, she's worried about who sees the images, she has no idea what it costs and she doesn't know how to pose. If your first screen doesn't answer those four things, she leaves.

That's what this build is organised around. Every page has a job, and the job is stated before a single font gets chosen.

Included

What the $3,500 covers

Ten pages, written not filled

  • Home, about, experience, pricing, galleries, booking
  • Two or three pages targeting what your city actually searches
  • A first-timer page and an FAQ that handles objections
  • Copy written for you — not a template with your name dropped in

Search built in, not bolted on

  • A keyword map so no two pages compete with each other
  • SEO titles and descriptions written per page
  • Schema markup so Google reads you as a real local business
  • Real image alt text on every photograph

Built to convert

  • Mobile designed first — that's where she's reading
  • The whole pitch above the fold on a phone
  • Booking or consult calendar wired in and tested
  • Pricing presented so the number stops being the objection

After launch

  • Thirty days of fixes and questions included
  • A walkthrough recording so you can edit it yourself
  • Search Console connected and your sitemap submitted
  • You own everything — no lock-in, no monthly retainer

Process

How the build runs

01

Week one — the questions nobody asks you

Who your client is, what she's afraid of, what you charge, what you want to be booking instead. Plus your current site, your analytics and your competitors.

02

Week two — sitemap and keyword map

Every page decided, with the term it owns and the job it does. You approve this before anything gets designed, because it's cheap to move a page now and expensive later.

03

Weeks three and four — build

Pages built and written in your Squarespace account, on your images, in your voice. You see them as they go live in draft rather than waiting for a reveal.

04

Week five — one round of changes

You go through everything and send one consolidated list. It gets worked through together rather than traded back and forth over a month.

05

Week six — launch

Redirects mapped so you keep the rankings you already have, schema in place, Search Console connected, sitemap submitted, and a recording of how to edit it.

Honest limits

What isn't included

  • Your Squarespace subscription and domain — you own and pay for those directly, which is how it should be
  • Photography — the site is built on your images
  • Logo design — existing brand assets get used; new ones are a separate conversation
  • Ongoing SEO — the site launches optimised, but ranking is a habit, not a handoff
  • Platforms other than Squarespace — Showit, WordPress and Pic-Time sites aren't what this is

Investment

$3,500 flat

$3,500

Half to start, half at launch. Flat rate, not hourly — the number doesn't move because a page took longer than expected.

Only two or three builds run at a time, so it starts with an application rather than a checkout. You'll hear back within two business days either way.

Smaller start

SEO Audit for Photographers

$697

If your site is fine and it's the traffic that's missing, start here instead. Every page audited against whoever is outranking you, with a 90-day plan you run yourself — and the $697 comes off a build if you decide you need one.

Who this is for

This is for you if

  • Your work is better than your website and you know it
  • People find you on Instagram and never book
  • You've been "about to redo the site" for over a year
  • You'd rather pay once than learn Squarespace at midnight

This isn't for you if

  • You want a copy of this site — yours will be built for your market
  • You want a designer to execute a layout you've already decided
  • You need an online store, membership or booking system rebuilt from scratch

Questions

Photography website design FAQ

Why do I apply instead of just booking?

Because only two or three builds run at once, and a build needs a start date I can actually honour. The application takes two minutes and you'll hear back within two business days — including if the answer is that the $697 audit would serve you better.

How long does the whole thing take?

About six weeks from the first call to launch, assuming you send your images and answer the week-one questions promptly. Most delays come from waiting on content, not on building.

Do I need to be on Squarespace already?

No, but that's what gets built. If you're on another platform we'll talk about whether moving makes sense before you pay anything — sometimes it doesn't.

Will I lose my Google rankings when the site changes?

Not if the redirects are mapped properly, which is part of launch week. Old URLs get pointed at their new equivalents so the ranking history carries over.

Who writes the copy?

I do, based on the week-one conversation and your existing voice. You review and change anything that doesn't sound like you before it goes live.

What if I want more than ten pages?

Extra pages are quoted individually. Ten covers a complete photography site — going wider usually means geo or session-type pages, which are worth adding once the core is live and earning.

Can I edit it myself afterwards?

Yes, and you get a walkthrough recording of how. It's your Squarespace account, your content and your login — there's no lock-in and no monthly fee to me.

How does payment work?

Half to start and half at launch, invoiced after the first call. Longer plans can be arranged — ask on the application.

Will you build a site for a photographer in my city?

Yes. No protected territory. Your clients were never choosing between you and a studio in Salt Lake City.

What if I just want the SEO fixed?

Then the $697 audit is the right thing, not this. It's the same analysis without the rebuild, and the fee comes off a build later if you change your mind.

Can I see an example of your work?

You're on it. Every page of this site was built page by page on the same system — mention it on the application and you'll get a walkthrough of what each page is doing and why.
