Dramatic doesn’t mean exposed. Shadow covers more than lace does. This is the set a lot of women choose precisely because it shows less.
What Makes It Different
Most boudoir is lit to be soft. This isn’t.
Soft light flatters by smoothing everything out. Hard light flatters by choosing what to reveal — a jawline, a collarbone, the curve of a hip — and letting the rest fall into black.
The Noir Room is built for it: black walls, controlled light, deep leopard and brass accents that read rich rather than loud. Nothing in the frame competes with you, because there’s barely anything in the frame at all.

What To Wear
Black on black, and almost nothing else.
You don’t have to buy anything — our in-studio closet runs XS to 5X and is stocked for this set specifically. But if you want to bring your own, this is what photographs best here.
- Black lace — reads as texture against the shadow rather than as an outfit
- Leather, latex, harnesses — the set carries them without tipping into costume
- A blazer or an open shirt over nothing — the most-requested look in this room
- Deep jewel tones — emerald, oxblood and plum glow against black
- Gold jewellery and body chains — metal catches hard light beautifully
- Skip white, pastels, busy prints and anything sheer-and-pale — they fight the room

What is dark and moody boudoir?
Boudoir photographed with directional, high-contrast light against a dark background, so shadow shapes the image rather than filling it in. It reads editorial and cinematic instead of soft and romantic. At Blushed it’s shot in the Noir Room.
Does it show more skin than other sets?
Usually less. Shadow covers more than fabric does, which is exactly why a lot of nervous first-timers choose this room. You still set your own comfort level and we shoot to it.
Is it good for tattoos?
It’s the best set we have for ink. Hard light and deep contrast make tattoos read sharply instead of flattening into the skin. See tattoo boudoir if that’s the whole reason you’re booking.
What should I wear?
Black lace, leather, harnesses, an open blazer, or deep jewel tones. Skip white, pastels and busy prints — they fight the room. Our closet runs XS to 5X so you don’t need to buy anything.
Can I book just this set?
Yes. It can be a $349 Friday mini on its own, one of the three looks in a $399 full session, or an add-on to any other session.
How much does it cost?
The session fee is $399 for women’s sessions, $449 for couples, $349 for a Friday mini. Images are chosen afterward — ten digitals start at $800, artwork collections at $1,895. The mini is the exception and includes five finished images.
Is hair and makeup included?
Yes, with every full session. Two exceptions: on a couples session it’s included for one person and adding a second is $100, and the $349 Friday mini doesn’t include it at all.
Do I need posing experience?
None. Dramatic lighting looks like it demands skill from the subject; it doesn’t. It demands light placement, which is our job. We direct every angle and expression.
Will my images stay private?
Yes. Nothing is posted, shared or submitted anywhere without your explicit written permission, and plenty of clients keep their galleries completely private.
Does this work in black and white?
Beautifully — it’s the set most often converted to black and white, and the one that holds up best as large wall art.
Who will be in the room?
Your all-female Blushed team and nobody else. The studio is private during your session — no other clients, no other photographers.
Where is the studio?
629 S State Street in downtown Salt Lake City, about twenty minutes from the airport. Park in the alleyway behind the building and come to the grey door.
