Choosing your outfits
Three silhouettes, not three outfits
Don't start with what you think you're supposed to wear. Start with what makes you feel like yourself with the volume turned up. These three shapes give your gallery real range — and they work for every session type we shoot.
A bodysuit or teddy
The most reliable piece in boudoir. One clean line, works on every body and in every set, and it's the piece almost nobody regrets bringing. If you only buy one thing, make it this.
A two or three piece set with real support
A completely different silhouette from the bodysuit, and good support changes everything on camera. Bra and brief, or bra, brief and a garter belt.
Something that makes you feel unstoppable
This is the one people remember. It can be sentimental — something your honey bought you, or his shirt. It can be his world: his team's jersey, fishing, hunting, or his job, whether that's a firefighter's coat, a hard hat, or the boots. You already know what yours is.
Adding a fourth look on the day
You can add sets the day of your session — plenty of women decide once they're in the building that they want one more. If there's any chance you'll want to, bring extra outfits. It's much easier to say yes when the options are already hanging on the rack.
Do
- Bring three to five outfits, more if you have them
- Try everything on beforehand, sitting and moving
- Size up rather than down — fit reads better than size
- Hang things rather than folding them
Don't
- Anything that digs, pinches or rolls. If it marks your skin standing still, it will mark it posing
- Skip babydoll nightgowns unless they have a slit up one or both sides. Straight hems cut across the leg and read boxy — the most common outfit regret we see
- Loud prints and visible logos, which date the images fast
- Brand-new spray tans. Several days out, with someone you trust
The sheet look
One of your looks can be the classic white sheet — implied nude, nothing showing, and one of the most requested things we shoot. If you want it, just say so on the day.
Our closet, yours, or both
The client closet runs XS through 5X. Some women shoot entirely in our pieces, some mix, some wear only what they brought. All three are normal, and you decide once you're standing in front of it.

Storytelling sets
Pick a moment, not a pose
Instead of standing in a beautiful room, you're caught in the middle of something — and the pictures stop looking posed entirely. Available in any session type.
The A/C went out
Water, fans, ice, and a wet set that looks like a heatwave rather than a photoshoot. Bring a plain tee or tank you don't mind soaking.
Something sweet
Ice cream, cupcakes, cherries, strawberries. Messy on purpose, and it gets a real laugh out of almost everyone.
Caught in the middle of it
Cutting flowers, writing a letter, reading in bed, doing your own makeup at the vanity. Nothing performed — you're just doing something and we photograph it.
The widest range we shoot
The three silhouettes above are all you need. What makes a women's gallery sing is contrast — moving from covered to classic to bold turns a set of photos into a story.
- Covered — an oversized knit, his button-down, the sheet look
- Classic — the bodysuit or teddy, or a set with good support
- Bold — red satin and opera gloves, body chains, or the wet set
Gowns, boudoir, or a bun in the oven
Wardrobe stays simple and mostly solid — busy prints compete with the bump, plain colours let it lead.
Traditional maternity gowns
Bring your own, or wear ours. We keep gorgeous traditional gowns in the studio, so there's nothing you need to buy. Do a gown look and a boudoir look, or stay in gowns the whole way through.
Any set in the studio
All 30+ sets are open to maternity. The most popular by far is our kitchen — with the foods you've been craving this pregnancy. Bring them. They go in the frame if you want them to.
Come back with the baby
You can return once they're here for an indoor lifestyle set together, and that can be a breastfeeding session if you'd like. Within the first year — and if you want the sleepy curled-up newborn frames, aim for the first 14 days.
- Buy maternity pieces about two weeks before, not two months
- Hydrate the day before, and take rings off early rather than fighting them here
- Say the moment you need to sit, snack or use the restroom — breaks are built in
Bring the gown, then break the rules
Bridal sessions have two halves, and most brides want both.
Your bridal gown
Bring it — a full in-studio bridal portrait is worth the suitcase. Add the veil, the garter, the shoes, the something blue, and your ring, cleaned.
Then anything you want
Lingerie, or something cosy and soft. Plenty of brides go the other way entirely and pick the Red Room or the bondage accessories. We have every prop, so there's nothing to bring.
Or shock him
The wet t-shirt set is a bridal favourite for a reason. So is going from white lace in one look to something completely unexpected in the next.
- Bring the veil even if you think it's too much. It's the most-used bridal prop in the building
- Book at least 8 weeks before the wedding for an album in time — albums take roughly 5–6 weeks after your reveal
- Don't schedule a dress fitting the same week as a spray tan
Two looks, and one should make you laugh
Your session fee covers two looks. We love starting formal and ending up somewhere much closer to real life.
Black tie
Our favourite opener. He wears a suit and tie, you wear whatever makes you feel like the most dangerous person in the room. Sharp and cinematic, and it makes the second look land twice as hard.
Boudoir, any set
Anywhere in the studio, including the Rain Room. For him: jeans with black or white underwear, bare feet. Simple beats styled here.
Or make it a moment instead
The storytelling sets are where couples sessions get genuinely good, because neither of you has to think about posing.
Saturday afternoon baking
Her in an apron, him in whatever he'd actually lounge in. It looks like someone caught you mid-afternoon and nobody minded.
Sunday morning, coffee and a book
Her in his t-shirt, the light low, nothing happening. The quietest set we shoot and often the one couples print.
The piano
Him playing, her on top of the piano watching him. Old-film energy, and it takes about four minutes to shoot.
Your partner is part of the session, not a guest — the no-guests rule applies to everyone else.

In your bag

Let's quiet the spiral
You will be posed and talked through every frame. Every hand, chin, arch and breath is directed — there is no moment where you're left to work it out.
"I need to lose weight first."
No. Your body doesn't need editing before it's worth photographing. Posing, lighting, wardrobe and expression do the work — now, at this size, in this season.
"I'm not photogenic."
Being photogenic isn't your job. Direction is ours, and most women who say this end up loving images they didn't think were possible.
"I don't own enough lingerie."
You don't need a drawer full. Bring a few options and we'll fill the rest from the closet, XS through 5X.
"My partner will be awkward."
Almost every partner is, for about ten minutes. Then he settles, because he isn't being asked to perform — he's being told exactly where to put his hands.
"I don't feel attractive pregnant."
A lot of mothers say this at the consult and cry at the reveal. It isn't about feeling like you did before. It's about seeing what your body is doing right now.
"I'm worried I'll feel exposed."
Your comfort level leads. Covered, implied, playful, bold — it should always feel like your choice, and we check in the whole way through.
Adding to your session
Want another look or a storytelling set?
You can add looks when you book, or tell us before your date and we'll attach it to your appointment. It's far easier to arrange now than on the day, since the set has to be built and lit before you arrive.
Bring extra outfits regardless. Plenty of women decide on the day that they want one more.
Your reveal
Where you finally see what we saw
You'll view your images, choose your favourites, and decide how to keep them. Nothing is decided in advance and nothing is bought sight unseen.

Before session day
How many outfits should I actually bring?
Three to five minimum, and more if you have them. We'll narrow it down together when you arrive, and having extras means you can add a look on the day if you decide you want one.
Can I wear only clothes from your closet?
Yes. Some women shoot entirely in our pieces, some mix, some wear only what they brought. XS through 5X, plus body chains, angel wings, gold body foil and neon body paint.
What's wrong with a babydoll nightgown?
Nothing, if it has a slit up one or both sides. The straight-hemmed ones cut across the leg and read short and boxy on camera. It's the most common outfit regret we see, and it's easily avoided.
Can I do the sheet look?
Yes, and it can be one of your looks. It's implied nude, nothing showing, and one of the most requested things we shoot.
Can I pick a storytelling set?
Yes, in any session type. Tell us which one before your date so the props and the set are ready when you walk in.
Can my partner come?
Only if you booked a couples session, where he's part of the shoot. Otherwise the studio stays client only, which is what keeps it calm and private.
Should I get my nails done?
Worth it. Hands are visible in a lot of poses, and ring shots are standard in bridal and couples sessions. Neutral, red, black, French or clean natural all photograph well.
What if I start my period?
It happens. Wear whatever makes you comfortable, bring backups, and tell us if you need posing adjusted.
Can I bring alcohol?
Please don't rely on it to get through your session. Eat something light, hydrate, and let us help you settle in naturally.
What if I go into labour or get put on bed rest?
Text us as soon as you know. Maternity timelines move and we reschedule around them. That's expected, not a problem.
