Your Private Prep Guide

Take a deep breath. We’ve got you.

Welcome to your Blushed Boudoir prep hub. This is where you’ll find everything you need before your Salt Lake City boudoir session — what to wear, what to pack, how to prepare, where to go, and what happens after your session.

You do not need to know how to pose. You do not need to arrive confident. You do not need to change your body before your session. You simply need to show up, and our all-female team will guide the rest.

First Things First

You are not behind. You are not too nervous. You are not the exception.

Most women walk into Blushed Boudoir feeling excited and terrified at the same time. That is completely normal. Boudoir is vulnerable because it matters.

Our job is to help you feel safe, supported, beautiful, and fully guided from the moment you walk through the door to the moment you see your images.

Session Day Basics

Your quick studio checklist.

Save this section or screenshot it before your session day.

Arrive On Time

Please arrive at your scheduled session time. If you arrive early, wait in your vehicle until your appointment time.

Alleyway Entrance

Park in the courtyard parking lot and look for the gray alley door. Ring the bell at your session time.

Private Experience

Your session is private and client-only. Our all-female team will be with you every step of the way.

Bring 3–5 Outfits

We recommend bringing more than you think you need so we can style your final looks together.

Client Closet Access

You’ll have access to our studio closet with pieces in a variety of styles and sizes.

Images Sold Separately

Your session fee reserves the experience. Images, albums, wall art, and products are selected after your session. Minimum image purchase amount is $1,200.

What To Wear

Bring pieces that feel like different sides of you.

You do not have to wear lingerie for every look. The best boudoir wardrobes mix texture, personality, softness, confidence, and pieces that already feel like you.

  • Bodysuits
  • Matching lingerie sets
  • Oversized sweaters or cardigans
  • Button-down shirts
  • Jeans or denim shorts
  • Robes or sheer layers
  • Bridal pieces, veils, garters, or white lingerie
  • Heels, boots, or bare feet
  • Personal items like jerseys, hats, books, jewelry, or a partner’s shirt
Best rule: bring options. We will help you choose what photographs best with your body, your comfort level, and the sets you love.
Client Closet

You do not have to show up with the perfect wardrobe.

Our client closet is here to help you feel styled, supported, and less overwhelmed. Bring your own favorite pieces, then let us help fill in the gaps with studio options that photograph beautifully.

  • Variety of bodysuits, robes, layers, and statement pieces
  • Sizes available in a broad range
  • Great for clients who are unsure what to buy
  • Perfect for adding texture, softness, or drama to your final looks
Bring more than you think you need. We will help narrow it down once you arrive.
Hair & Makeup

This is where the nerves start to soften.

If your session includes professional hair and makeup, this part of the day is designed to help you settle in before stepping in front of the camera. You can sip, breathe, ask questions, and let yourself be taken care of.

  • Arrive with a clean, moisturized face
  • Arrive with clean, dry hair unless told otherwise
  • Bring inspiration photos if you have a specific look in mind
  • Bring your favorite lipstick or gloss for touch-ups
  • Avoid trying a brand-new dramatic beauty look unless you truly love it
We recommend camera-ready beauty that still feels like you — elevated, polished, and confident without feeling like a stranger in your own images.
Wardrobe Tips

What usually does not photograph as well.

Too-Tight Pieces

If it digs, pinches, rolls, or makes you uncomfortable standing still, it usually becomes more distracting when posing.

Worn-Out Basics

Skip anything stretched, faded, pilled, or visibly worn unless it has sentimental value.

Last-Minute Panic Buys

If it does not fit well, feel good, or match your personality, leave it out. Confidence photographs better than a trendy piece that makes you fidget.

When You Arrive

The first few minutes are designed to calm your nerves.

  • Look for the gray alley door
  • Ring the bell at your session time
  • Please wait in your car if you arrive early
  • No guests during sessions
Posing Reassurance

You do not need to know what to do with your face, hands, body, or soul.

Truly. We guide everything. Every hand placement, chin tilt, arch, breath, expression, toe point, shoulder drop, and tiny adjustment is directed by your photographer.

Most poses feel awkward before they look incredible. That is normal. We will coach you through every movement and expression so you never have to wonder what to do next.

The Thoughts Almost Everyone Has

Let’s quiet the spiral before session day.

“I need to lose weight first.”

No, babe. Your body does not need to be edited before it is worthy of being photographed. We use posing, lighting, wardrobe, angles, and expression to create images that feel powerful and beautiful now.

“I’m not photogenic.”

Being photogenic is not your job. Direction is our job. Most clients who say this end up loving images they never thought possible.

“I don’t know how to pose.”

Perfect. We do. You will be guided from start to finish.

“I don’t own enough lingerie.”

You do not need a drawer full of lingerie. Bring a few options, and we will help style you with what you bring plus pieces from the client closet.

“I’m worried I’ll feel exposed.”

Your comfort level leads the session. Boudoir can be soft, covered, playful, romantic, bold, moody, or daring — but it should always feel like your choice.

Privacy

Your images are yours. Your permission matters.

Your privacy is deeply respected. Images are only shared with written permission, and you choose the level of sharing you are comfortable with.

Some clients share everything. Some share anonymous images only. Some keep their entire gallery private. Every choice is valid.

You never have to earn privacy. It is part of the experience.
Your Reveal Appointment

This is where you finally see what we saw.

Your reveal appointment is when you view your images, choose your favorites, and decide how you want to keep them. This is also where you select digital images, albums, wall art, heirloom boxes, and other finished artwork.

  • Your session fee reserves the experience
  • Images and products are purchased separately
  • Minimum image purchase amount is $1,200
  • Payment options may be available
  • In-person reveals are client-only
  • Zoom reveals may be available with video required
Most clients are emotional during their reveal — in the best way. Seeing yourself through our lens is often the moment everything clicks.
Investment & Product Options

Choose what you love most after you see your images.

You do not need to know exactly what you want before your session. During your reveal, we will walk you through the options and help you choose the images and products that fit your vision.

10 Images

Minimum image purchase begins at $800.

Luxury Collections

Collections may include albums, digitals, heirloom boxes, wall art, and fine art keepsakes.

Flexible payment options are available through in-house payment plans, Klarna, Afterpay, and PayPal Credit.
Artwork Matters

Your images deserve to live somewhere more beautiful than a forgotten camera roll.

These portraits become something you return to — on quiet mornings, before hard conversations, after big life changes, and in every season where you need proof of who you are.

  • Luxury albums
  • Heirloom image boxes
  • Wall art
  • Mobile app collections
  • Fine art keepsakes
Prep Guide FAQ

Last little things before session day.

Should I tan before my session?

Avoid brand-new spray tans right before your session unless you already know and trust your artist. Uneven tans can photograph patchy and may affect retouching.

Should I get my nails done?

Fresh nails are recommended because hands are visible in many poses. Neutral, blush, red, black, French, or clean natural nails all photograph beautifully.

Can I bring alcohol?

Please do not rely on alcohol to get through your session. Eat something light, hydrate, and let us help you settle in naturally.

Can I bring a friend?

No guests are allowed during sessions. This keeps the studio private, calm, focused, and centered on you.

What if I start my period?

It happens. Wear whatever products make you comfortable, bring backup options, and let us know if you need posing adjustments.

Do I have to be nude?

No. Your session is built around your comfort level. Covered, cozy, implied, bridal, glam, white sheet, jeans, and soft sweater looks are all beautiful options.

When do I choose my images?

Your images are selected during your private reveal appointment. That is when you choose your favorites and decide what you would like to purchase.

You’re Ready Enough

Now let yourself actually enjoy this.

You booked this for a reason. Maybe to celebrate. Maybe to heal. Maybe to surprise someone. Maybe to finally see yourself with softer eyes.

Whatever brought you here, we are honored to guide you through it.
